Hillcrest is what the name says, located at the top line of a hill, and this property certainly offers the best views of the village! The photo above shows just one view from your property. Situated in the picturesque conservation village of Portnahaven, Hill Crest is a modern house built on the foundations of a traditional fisherman’s cottage.
The home is just steps from the lovely sheltered child friendly beach, the local well stocked post office and general store and a five minute stroll to the traditional local pub An Tigh Seinnse. Portnahaven and its neighbouring village of Port Wemyss are arguably the most beautiful unspoiled parts of the Island and provide access to a whole range of activities from pottering on the local beaches to cycling, walking, bird-watching, golfing or distillery sampling. Six years ago exploring Islay, we bought Hillcrest for its stunning views. We enjoy fishing, looking at, listening to and smelling the vibrant sea. The walks over the gullies and the sound of the grey seals at night. The good food, friendly people and world famous Whiskies. At Hillcrest you can always find either a sunny, shady or wind sheltered part of the veranda to enjoy your views. |

Hillcrest benefits from Ocean Views from almost all rooms. Relax in the lounge with Freesat TV, free WiFi Internet and MP3 docking station. Enjoy the quality of the separate Dining Room/Kitchen with brand new units and appliances.As mentioned before, we bought the house for its stunning views. The interior however did not entirely meet our ideas of comfort. In 2013 we completely renovated the house. All floors are of solid and varnished red pine. Every room has its own colour experience. The floors, walls and ceilings have been thoroughly insulated. It has changed the house into a very pleasant place to relax. No more draft nor damp walls.

Upper Storey Hall with access to the salon, bathroom and the stairs to the bedrooms. The hall is heated by a storage heater.
Bathroom with a shower, wash basin, toilet, washing machine and dryer. The bathroom is heated by a towel radiator.
The lounge, with its spectacular views over the beach, bay and village has a gas fireplace, a six seater table, couch and mothers chair. Cabinet with Tv and audio/ Dvd system .
Entertainment: Radio, CD-DVD player with IPod dock and USB, TV with reception of free channels, open WIFI Internet.
Kitchen with three seated table, kitchen and brand new hob with ceramic cooker, top grill and large oven. Fan hood. Fridge freeze combination. Dishwasher. Bread baking machine, water kettle, toaster, Alfredo pizza oven, Panini grill, hand mixer, blender and tea and coffee making fascilities. This room is heated with a towel radiator |

Lower Storey A double single bedded room comfortly heated with a storage heater. The room has plenty of storage space.
A double master room with access to the veranda. Beatiful view on Rinns Island and its lighthouse.
A room with sofa bed for one or two persons, heated with a storage heater. The room has plenty of storage space. The desk stores a selection of reference books and OS maps. A vacuum cleaner, ironing board and some family games are stored in the stair case locker Outside Veranda from one side overlooking the bay and village and from the other the village and the sea.
